He may have been born into a filmi family with Aamir Khan for an uncle, but debutant actor Imran Khan is incredibly grounded.

Imran Khan is candid as he voices his concerns about the Hindi film industry. It's not so much about the industrywallahs as about, "me, Imran, and whether I fit here at all". As a film journalist, it's a line we've heard before: Most actors have repeated it, often in a bid to applaud themselves, to reiterate that they don't fit the mould of partygoers, never mind they do end up at every film do. The acting bit came very recently, only when I met Abbas. I went to film school in LA and trained to be a writer and director. That was my career plan. I even worked in LA for a while, so I was really setting down that career path, and quite seriously,” he says. Read more...

For those who're wondering who exactly Imran is, read on. Grandfather Nasir Husain directed films like Dil Deke Dekho, Yaadon Ki Baarat and Caravan. His uncle (mother Nusrat's cousin) Mansoor Khan directed films like Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Jo Jeeta Woh Sikander and Josh. His other uncle (mother's brother) Aamir Khan needs no introduction. Is it true that you have always been a fan of science fiction?
Yes, it is. As a child, I was into writing and making short films. One of the first few films I made was along the lines of Star Wars. I used a handycam to shoot a short film about a few friends and me exploring another planet. People at home were very supportive. Mansoor mamu would advise me on the technical aspects of film-making.
