What has scarred Imran Khan?
24 Sep 2008 | 332 Views | admin
The ‘cute’ actor has quite a wild streak hidden inside him. He has a huge fascination for knives and is also quite a pro at jabbing a knife between his fingers.

“When I was at school, I used to love jabbing the knife between my fingers without looking at my hand. It was quite a fascination and I would do it regularly,” Imran told After Hrs, flaunting his scarred fingers.

He added: “Do you see these scars? It is all the result of my playing with knives. I have got hurt regularly when I started doing it but it was fun and I enjoyed it.”

Imran, who plays a dangerous kidnapper in his forthcoming film Kidnap, has also repeated the same knife trick on Minissha Lamba (the victim in the movie). He says his practice with the weapon made the scene a cakewalk.

“The knife-jabbing scene with Minissha was always a part of the script and since I had done it before, it was quite easy doing the part,” he says.

The young actor, whose debut film Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na was a super hit, says he was initially very nervous working with his Kidnap co-star Sanjay Dutt.

“The first day, I remember, I was very nervous. My hand was shaking in the scene where I had to point a gun at him. I was not being able to deliver. I told him that I was too anxious to deliver a good performance. He looked at me for a couple of seconds and then hugged me and all my tension went away,” Imran says.

He adds, “I have picked up many things from him (Sanjay). It takes a lot for any actor to stand in one frame with him. He is a total rock star, probably the last that we have in Bollywood today. He is very quiet, shy and reserved otherwise but when the director says action, you have a different Sanjay Dutt in front of you. He has a tremendous screen presence. You can feel a gravitational pull towards him when he takes the screen.”

Imran may have earned a name for himself as the romantic hero but his favourite genre is the thriller. “When I visit DVD libraries to look for a movie that I would take home, my hand invariably reaches out for thrillers. I loved Bourne Supremacy. I’m a sucker for thrillers,” he says.

Drifting away to his personal life, does Imran feel that the fact that he has spoken about his relationship has affected his fan following? “People appreciate honesty and they can catch someone instantly if that person if lying. I wanted to tell the truth to everybody without thinking too much about how it will affect my fan following. I always want to remain very transparent in the eyes of my audience. I want to be trust worthy,” he ends.

"As actors, we all want our audience to like our work; so even if you ask me this question after five years I will say yes I want to work harder and harder to be loved by my audience."
