Mama Aamir Khan may have reserved the lead role in Delhi Belly for bhanja Imran Khan. But there’s one more important character parallel to Imran’s and apparently, a newbie has scored over actors like Ranbir Kapoor and Neil Nitin Mukesh to get the role. Says our source, “Aamir made Imran, Neil, Ranbir and a newcomer, Veer Das audition for both the crucial characters of Delhi Belly.
Aamir wanted to be sure about casting the right person for the right role. He was especially particular about the way actors spoke their dialogue because Delhi Belly will be in English.”
Aamir felt that Veer had a better command over the language than Ranbir and Neil. Adds our source, “Aamir was impressed with Veer’s body of work too. Having worked earlier as a stand-up comedian, Veer would be an asset for Delhi Belly which is a dark comedy with sexual undertones.”
Veer however seems unaware of the fact that he had serious competition for the role. He says, “It is true that I am playing a parallel lead along with Imran. But I have no clue about other actors who auditioned for the role.”
