Mumbai, Dec 30: The new kid-on-the-block, Imran Khan likes to keep his distance from the showy stardom and wants to remain the ideal mamu’s boy. After receiving a grand welcome into Bollywood with his blockbuster hit ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’, Imran Khan has become the most desirable and sort after celeb of the B-town. He believes it is all courtesy mamu, Aamir Khan. And, that’s exactly why, he chose not to charge even a single penny for Aamir’s home production ‘Delhi Belly’.
Imran Khan is undoubtedly a star material but he doesn’t have the tantrums of a star as yet. And, as an appreciation to Aamir’s effort in the promotion of ‘Jaane Tu…’, Imran, not only refused payments but also travelled in economy class to cut cost.
Here’s what the lass had to say in an interview to a news daily, “Yes I haven’t charged Aamir a penny for ‘Delhi Belly’. After all that he has done for me, how could I charge him? He did far more for me in ‘Jaane Tu …’ than any producer could have done. Besides, ‘Delhi Belly’ is a niche English-language film. The budget is limited. Will I charge him for my next film with him? It’ll depend on what it is. As for travelling by economy class, I don’t want to be treated differently. If it’s an Aamir Khan production, it’s a home production.”
Imran is ecstatic about shooting for ‘Delhi Belly’ not only because it’s his mamu’s production but because he was not treated like a star, “It’s back to the ‘Jaane Tu…’ feeling. We are all working as a team. When I shot for ‘Kidnap’ and ‘Luck’ I was treated like a star. I was called ‘Mr Khan’. I had my own van, and all the trappings. People started treating me differently. And I was very uncomfortable with that. If you ask me I am much more comfortable working as part of a team in ‘Jaane Tu …’ and ‘Delhi Belly’,” said Imran.
“What I like about stardom is the great service I get at restaurants. The best part is that I don’t even need table reservations. I don’t attend events and parties as I don’t know what to do there. My only regular outings are films. After making films the only thing I really like doing is seeing them, preferably with my girlfriend Avantika”.
With such a genial approach towards fame, Imran’s sure to live up to his good boy image!
