Imran Khan, 2008’s most valued discovery, celebrates his first birthday after stardom in relative anonymity today and without Bollywood being ‘party’ to it.
It’s not that he’s anti-social, but just that Imran prefers being with his girlfriend Avantika and catching a film when he’s got the time. So, he’s working on Abhinay Deo’s Delhi Belly today and will do just that this evening after pack-up. “In six months after Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na, so much has changed, 2008 was the most exciting year of my life. I feel I’ve grown up by a couple of years,” said Imran who is also working on Soham Shah’s Luck. “I’ve been working like a dog. Stardom’s quite an unsettling experience. On an average, I have 15 new experiences every day. I can’t complain, but it became too much to handle.”
His second film, Kidnap, bombed but Imran was prepared for failure as much as success (perhaps, by Maamu Aamir Khan). “People around me were more affected by Kidnap’s failure than me. Look at the heroes who came before me. Hrithik Roshan went through some major debacles after his first success. And look at where he’s today. It happened to Aamir, Shahid, Salman.... I’m prepared to go through the grind,” he said.
"As actors, we all want our audience to like our work; so even if you ask me this question after five years I will say yes I want to work harder and harder to be loved by my audience."
