Hitting off his career with the box office paisa vasool Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, nephew of Aamir Khan booked a special place in the hearts of his fans, no matter young or old. With Kidnap, already released, Imran is working in Aamir Khan’s production Delhi Belly. The star talks about awards, Ghajini aspiring filmmakers and more...
You celebrated your birthday this year [January 13] in a rather unusual manner — chose to attend a college festival organised by mass media students who want to become filmmakers. Yes, I completely believe in supporting the next generation of filmmakers — this is where the future of our film industry will come from. Actually, these students were really sweet — they had also organised a cake for my birthday.
Were you aware that Aamir Khan was at the same function last year? I know. I was told that but I don’t know what happened when he came last year. The funny part is I have not met maamu for a very long time.
Your maamu’s Ghajini has become a huge success. I think maamu [Aamir Khan] has done it yet again. He has given such a big hit, I guess it’s the biggest hit in the industry, there is nothing left to say about it. It is very clear he the best actor and the biggest star of the country.
Speaking of Best Actor, are you expecting many Best Newcomer Of The Year awards this year for Jaane Tu … Ya Jaane Na? Will you attend award functions or pull an Aamir? I already got one award on Sabse Favourite Kaun. Actually, Aamir maamu ka zaara panga hai award functionwalo ke saath so I thought mujhe koi awards nahin milenge; but I got one. I will definitely attend award functions if they call me and if I’m free.
