Karan, who clearly believes in self-love, decides to have a character based on himself in his Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor starrer I Hate Love Stories

There have been several caricatures of Karan Johar in Bollywood films but this one sure takes the cake. In Karan’s home production I Hate Love Stories, Samir Dattani’s character will be completely based on the filmmaker. True to Karan’s real-life character, Samir plays a film director who makes mushy romantic films and family dramas, which Karan is so well-known for. The film stars Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor in lead roles and is directed by Punit Malhotra.

A source said, “I Hate Love Stories is about a film director, Samir and his two assistants played by Imran and Sonam. It was Karan Johar who decided to have a character based on him in his own film. Karan is especially known for making romantic and family-based films. In I Hate Love Stories, TV actor Aamir Ali plays the romantic hero in Samir’s film. Although Imran Khan plays Samir’s assistant director, he hates the idea of making love stories and that’s how the film got its title. Karan has already briefed Samir about his role in I Hate Love Stories. The film will soon go on the floors.”
