Happiness of Others 26 Oct 2009 | 298 Views | admin
How do you feel when something great happens to someone else? Happy? Jealous? Motivated? Discouraged? Let me start from the beginning.
I have a friend who has always wanted to be an actor. Much more than I wanted to. He's a couple of years younger than me, but he knows so much more about it than I do; he spent years training in theatre, dance, language... you name it. He moved to Bombay a little over a year ago to start his career, and I've seen him through it all. The countless meetings and auditions, photos sent to producers and directors. The hope before each meeting that this will be the one; this is going to be the day that we'll all talk about years from now when people ask, “So how did you get started in the business?”
Imran Khan and Rohan Sippy hit the waves with Pirate Radio 20 Oct 2009 | 207 Views | admin
By Stacey Yount
It all started with a tweet by Imran Khan saying he listened to Miss Malini's radio show on 94.3 Radio One in Mumbai. Malini then tweeted Imran with an invite to come be on her show and spin whatever song he liked... he said yes and thus Pirate Radio was born. Malini told BollySpice, "Pirate Radio was entirely Imran Khan's idea, I was just really excited to get him on the show and his only condition was that we call it that! So thank you Imran, you're a rockstar! I was blown away with his selection of music and just what a nice, clever funny guy he is." You can read our report about this first show here!
Sitting with friends and family, celebrating Diwali by playing cards. Them, not me. I can’t play cards to save my life, it never made any sense to me. I’m told Ace is highest, but a pair of anything beats an Ace. Also, 2,3,5 is the lowest possible hand you can have, but because of how rare that is, it’s the highest. Anyone else confused yet?
Still, it’s the family being together that matters. Diwali is a big deal for us, and I feel that we often lose sight of what’s really important in all of this. People go nuts with buying new stuff, playing cards and gambling away huge sums of money... they spend tens of thousands of rupees on crackers, which have always infuriated me.
I'm not a Disco Dancer 12 Oct 2009 | 329 Views | admin
I’ve said time and again that I’m not a dancer. It doesn’t come naturally to me, nor have I ever seen the fun in it. People seem to like it though, and they spend hours jerking their bodies around to a beat (sometimes off beat as well), and I’ll confess that I have often sat and laughed at people in nightclubs.
However. Complain though I may, and ridiculous though it may seem, dancing is an integral part of Hindi films. Yeah yeah, we all go on about new age cinema this and evolving audience tastes that, but crank up the volume on Ahun Ahun and suddenly everyone’s doing pelvic thrusts.Let’s all just face it, shall we? We’re Indian, and we like our heroes and heroines to express their feelings in song and dance, dammit!
Imran Khan and MissMalini have a Paani Puri date! 9 Oct 2009 | 221 Views | admin
Radio jockey Malini Agarwal blogs about Imran's second appearance on her show Pirate Radio
Lol, you knew I was going to do that right? What can I say (apart from sorry Avantika!) I couldn’t resist. The fact is I am simply over the moon that Imran Khan is back (by popular demand of course, and a not-so-secret love for pirate radio) as my co-host on 94.3 Radio One, Mumbai this Saturday night (October 10th) at 9pm playing you yet another amazing selection of his favorite tunes. Psst! This time he’s gone for a more happy/chill/dreamy sound, sounds good doesn’t it?!Yes, I will post ALL the audio and his track list for everyone not in listening range and now that I have a new Flip Mino HD (funny story; coming soon) LOADS of video too!
Imran Khan to walk the ramp with Shahrukh! 5 Oct 2009 | 237 Views | admin
Gone are the days when the ramp was only meant for saucy models. Now Bollywood celebs strut and sashay the catwalk quite often. But can the ramp become a battleground for ego tussle? The upcoming HDIL Couture Week in Mumbai seems headed that way.
If Aamir Khan will don ‘Being Human’ clothes for Salman Khan, Karan Johar has got Aamir’s bhanja and his Twitter follower Imran Khan to walk with Shahrukh Khan during the couture week. In a ramp-age of sorts, Salman has managed many other celebs for ‘Being Human’ show - they include Saif Ali Khan, Sunny Deol, Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Govinda and, not to forget, Katrina Kaif.
