Seems about time to do another roundup. For those of you who came in late, every few weeks I write a `roundup' column to fill you in on what I've been up to, what's been going on, and what is soon to be going on. First, the coincidence; last week's column mentioned Sachin Tendulkar, and on Monday itself I got a call inviting me to a dinner in his honour! It's this weekend, so I'll let you know how it went. Any conversation topics I should steer clear of?Read more...

I'm fairly certain you all follow Ithe news. At least enough to be aware of the happenings last week; this guy called Loin (I don't think that's his real name, par sara sheher usse yehi naam se jaanta hai) didn't care for Sachin Tendulkar's statement about being "an Indian first", and he said in his own column (published in an entirely different newspaper) that he was offended by this kind of broadminded thinking.Read more...

Youth sensation, actor Imran Khan believes it’s never too early to go ‘green’. In Verve , he writes about spending his childhood growing vegetables and using tiles made from industrial waste in his Bandra home.
So I’m going green. I mean I’ve always been green, but that was more, you know...green on the inside. I didn’t actively do anything about it. Now I’m actually doing green things. Confused? Guess I ‘blue’ it. Better start from the beginning.Read more...

The wit is razor sharp in the film but it's all very subtle and underplayed. Directed by Abhinay Deo, the grammar of the film is something not used in Indian films. Besides Guzaarish, it is the only mainstream Indian film completely in English, the style of storytelling, the way it's written, shot, etc. Simply put, it can't be dubbed into Hindi. Imran Khan lost weight and grew his hair and beard to lose the 'hero' look so that he'd blend with the rest of the cast.Read more...

I don’t know if it surprises you or not, but I get a lot of hate mail. Actually, those of you writing it won’t be surprised at all... Anyway. I’ve said that the thing I like about writing this column is that I get to reach out and connect with people on a more personal level. Here’s the downside; you also open yourself up to a lot of negativity. A lot of hostility, a lot of derision and outright hatred. For reasons that range from the somewhat plausible to the outer reaches of insanity. It’s only natural; anytime you open yourself up, you get good and bad.
People who can just never see the good in anyone (thanks sits) and would rather believe the absolute worst. Who will say unpleasant things just because they can, because they know someone is listening.
"As actors, we all want our audience to like our work; so even if you ask me this question after five years I will say yes I want to work harder and harder to be loved by my audience."
