Seems about time to do another roundup. For those of you who came in late, every few weeks I write a `roundup' column to fill you in on what I've been up to, what's been going on, and what is soon to be going on. First, the coincidence; last week's column mentioned Sachin Tendulkar, and on Monday itself I got a call inviting me to a dinner in his honour! It's this weekend, so I'll let you know how it went. Any conversation topics I should steer clear of? We're on a break from shooting, so my director's gone off to New Zealand for a recce (that's short for reconnoitre), which is film slang for "looking for places to shoot". Sonam is finishing work on her film Aisha, and I have thrown myself headlong into a health and fitness regime. I'm working out every day (twice on some days), and am maintaining the healthiest `detox' diet you can imagine. Grilled fish, steamed vegetables, brown rice, lots of fruit and nuts... Before you ask, no I'm not trying to gain or lose weight. Just making a conscious effort to be healthier. I've started to realise more and more how your diet directly affects the way you look. The healthier you eat, the better you look. Your skin, hair, everything looks healthy and attractive. The way all of us (not just film people) work nowadays makes it really hard to maintain a healthy lifestyle. We eat at odd hours, eat the wrong kinds of foods, and often don't get enough rest. So after a few weeks of hectic shoots and oily food (the food served on film sets is famous for being absolutely delicious and absolutely unhealthy), I decided to start being more responsible. Which is not to say that it's any fun at all. I'm famous for being a foodie, and I can't begin to tell you how much I'm missing... everything. But one must soldier on! I am also in the process of doing up my house, so have spent hours and hours looking at bathroom fittings, tiles and stuff. Make jokes if you want, but I'm really enjoying it! Sitting with the architect and designing the way it will look...there's something about making your own house. That's all I have time and space for this week... see you all next Monday!
Replies: Jeni, there are always going to be bad people who do bad things. We can't let that determine the way we live our lives. Priyanka, I think I have written about pollution and the environment... just can't remember when! Been writing for a while now. Which brings me to Shraddha, don't worry I'm not planning to discontinue my column. I love having this space to write every week, and to communicate with you all.
"As actors, we all want our audience to like our work; so even if you ask me this question after five years I will say yes I want to work harder and harder to be loved by my audience."
