All actors want to look good on screen and he is no different, says Imran Khan, who will be seen shirtless in I Hate Luv Storys It's the last day of his shoot for I Hate Luv Storys and Imran Khan, who had been shuffling between the film and a schedule for Bread Ke Baad, feels he deserves a little break. "It's been very hectic since the last year and a half. I was so caught up with work that I haven't done the regular things like going shopping or dining out. In fact, I have been wearing my same old jeans, tees and shoes for a long time now. But now that I Hate Luv Storys is over I intend to go nuts shopping with all the money that has been sitting in the bank!" says the hotshot Khan. Though he hasn't spent any money on himself Imran says that he did gift his fiancée Avantika Malik a red Volkswagen Beetle on their engagement this January. "I am a very smart guy. I know how to take care of a woman, and if you take care of your woman everything else will be fine! So it's money well spent," he laughs. What also keeps him smiling is that he's never looked better. It all started when Karan Johar, the producer of I Hate Luv Storys, told him that he would be going shirtless for a scene in the film and would have to work on his body to get the perfect edgy look. "I was not shy of showing my body. I was already doing functional training with my trainer Yasmin Karachiwala for a year and was particular about my fitness. But this was different. In this particular scene where I casually take off my shirt, the focus was on attitude, without making a big deal about the body. But since I was going to be shirtless, my physique had to look good." So a month before the shoot, Imran switched to a diet of steamed fish and vegetables, brown rice and sweet potatoes. He avoided fat, sweets and any other type of carbs. "All actors want to look good on screen and so do I. Thankfully the result is good. I have seen the scene, it has turned out very well," he says happily. The film, which has Bollywood as the backdrop and has Imran playing a production assistant, is helmed by debutant director Punit Malhotra. Imran describes him as one who is very clear about what he wants and is extremely hardworking, " Whenever I landed up in his room in the morning I noticed that his bed would not be slept in, and there would be eight to nine cups of coffee on the table. Being so hardworking himself he also pushed Sonam and me to put in our best. Looking back, I think I am glad he did." Now that the film is over he is all set to go to Mauritius, where he will be shooting the second schedule of Kunal Kohli's Break Ke Baad. "I cannot say much about the film since it is only our second schedule but I am happy to be going to Mauritius. It is in the Southern hemisphere and it is winter time. But their winters are not so cold. So I am looking forward to go swimming, diving and scuba-diving as the quality of their beach waters is the best in the world," he signs off.
"As actors, we all want our audience to like our work; so even if you ask me this question after five years I will say yes I want to work harder and harder to be loved by my audience."
