A few months ago, HT Café had reported that Imran Khan’s cola campaign had generated such a hype that the company was planning to create an international campaign featuring the actor. Following an extensive series of brainstorming with their ad agency, Coca Cola Ltd recently completed work on their new global campaign called Brrrr… featuring Imran. The new commercials will go on air next week, after the ICC World Cup gains some momentum.
It is believed that this new international campaign features Khan sipping the chilled cola and going “Brrrr…” The very next moment, the whole world goes, “Brrrr…”
Interestingly, the first two commercials of Khan, shot by acclaimed filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee have been very widely appreciated. The first one featured Kalki Koechlin offering the actor an imaginary cola bottle in a bus. This ad was also released internationally with a new soundtrack instead of Tum jo mil gaye ho…. The second ad, currently on air, has the actor communicating with a girl’s shadow to get his favourite drink. The new international campaign is being made by popular ad filmmaker Amit.
Ever since his debut Jaane Tu… Yaa Jaane Naa (2008), Khan has become hot property in the advertising circuit. However, he chose to endorse only two brands, Coca Cola and Levi jeans. Advertising sources claim he’s one of the highest paid actor-ambassadors in his generation. Also, like his uncle Aamir Khan, the young actor also believes in using the brands he endorses.
Confirming the news about his new international campaign, Khan says, “It’s the cola company’s flagship campaign. It feels great to know that the ads are being received so well. That’s why I’m all the more excited to be the face of the new global campaign.”
