Like all Aamir Khan productions, the plot of Imran Khan-starrer, Delhi Belly, has also been a closely guarded secret. Though rumours pegged it to be a sex comedy, on the lines of American Pie, Imran reveals that the movie is actually a “comic crime caper”.

Aamir Khan is in Europe meeting up with several international distribution houses to discuss his next three films -- Peepli Live, Dhobi Ghat and Delhi Belly. Since they are films with different sensibilities, Khan wants a new channel to take his films to a new audience -- the kind that appreciates world cinema. He doesn't want to go through the usual Eros and UTV way, like most big Hindi films do.

The wit is razor sharp in the film but it's all very subtle and underplayed. Directed by Abhinay Deo, the grammar of the film is something not used in Indian films. Besides Guzaarish, it is the only mainstream Indian film completely in English, the style of storytelling, the way it's written, shot, etc. Simply put, it can't be dubbed into Hindi. Everyone is so tight lipped about the cast of Aamir Khan Productions Delhi Belly that it becomes hard to say whether they're making a film or designing the blueprint for the national defence.
We all know that the film's leading man is Aamir's nephew Imran Khan . Beyond that everyone is silent on the cast, including Imran himself.
When asked about the cast he chuckled, "Sorry I'm not at liberty to talk about the rest of the cast besides myself."
Ask him if it's Lisa Ray who was to earlier play the female lead when Ranbir Kapoor was to play the lead.
Shenaz Treasury — that’s what she calls herself these days — is a hippie at heart.
Her “itchy feet” took her away from B-town after the 2006 dud Umar. “This is the second break I took from the biz and I went back to school. I like working hard for a couple of years and then taking off for a while. I travel, live, pursue my interests, work in other countries and then, when I miss home, I fly back, work here and then take off again,” says Shenaz.

The film, which is being produced by Aamir Khan, has been dogged by reports that it is a desi version of American Pie, with actor Ranbir Kapoor reportedly dropping out of the project because of its supposedly X-rated content.
But Das, who is sometimes called the Russell Peters of India, set the record straight. "The film is not a sex comedy, it's not a desi American Pie," he said.

Delhi Belly has been quite a hush-hush project ever since it was announced. As a result, the film’s surreptitious status has generated several misconceptions. So we spoke to the film’s director, Abhinay Deo, who clears several rumours, tells us why he prefers calling it as a social comedy rather than a sexual comedy, and discusses his future plans.
