Aamir Khan's nephew Imran is solemnising his formal engagement with beloved for many years Avantika Malik on January 16 and the auspicious and grand ceremony will be held in Mumbai instead of New Delhi which the industry informers had speculated.

Grapevine rumours had it that he was supposed to throw a lavish party in Arjun Rampal's lounge Lap but sources close to the actor confirm that the bash in happening in Mumbai where the whole of the film industry is expected to land up. The couple is now busy with the preparations of the event after which they shall also announce their marriage date.

Mumbai: Aamir Khan's actor nephew Imran, who proposed to his longtime girlfriend Avantika Malik a couple of months back, has pushed back the date of their engagement

DNA has learnt that Imran wants to get hitched only after completing his pending work commitments. Since he is currently shooting for Karan Johar's I Hate Love Stories (which has Sonam Kapoor opposite him), he managed to convince his family and Avantika that it would be better to delay the engagement and marriage.

The director proposes and the star disposes! Abbas Tyrewala was keen that Imran Khan do a cameo in his John Abraham-starrer 1-800-Love. But the Jaane Tu actor had no time for it. As a result, the cameo had to be scrapped.

Tyrewala admits, "I really wanted Imran for the cameo. I had conceived it specially for him along with Genelia D'Souza as part of an engagement party."

Abbas was keen to include Imran in an ensemble song a la Karan Johar's cinema. "Those numbers where suddenly amidst a group of dancers an actor emerges.

I Hate Luv Storys, he pledges on screen, but is busy off screen designing the engagement ring for fiancée Avantika for the official engagement in January next year!

That I mran Khan is injury prone is nothing new. He burnt his lashes while shooting a train scene for Luck.

It all started with a tweet by Imran Khan saying he listened to Miss Malini's radio show on 94.3 Radio One in Mumbai. Malini then tweeted Imran with an invite to come be on her show and spin whatever song he liked... he said yes and thus Pirate Radio was born.
